Art on the Square
Art on the Square
Sunday April 29, 2012
Merchants' Square, Williamsburg
For over 45 years, the Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg has organized its annual spring art show to benefit local not for profit organizations through grants and scholarships. The show, held in Merchant's Square, attracts almost 250 applicants each year. Only 160 or so artists and craftsmen are selected to exhibit at the show.
Each year, local Williamsburg artist, Richard DePaul, generously donates an original watercolor painting to the club for Art on the Square. Prints are made of the painting and are sold during the show. The 2011 painting was "A Hat For My Lady" and it was raffled off, with monies from the sale of tickets and posters being used for our annual Fine Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to local high school seniors who plan to pursue further studies in the arts.
