Fundraising
The Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg, Inc. currently holds three major fundraisers each club year. Over 90% of funds raised through these efforts go back to the local community through cash donations to non-profit organizations or through community service projects. JWCW asks that all club members participate in some way to support all major fundraisers each year.
Casino Night
Casino Night is a relatively new event to JWCW. October 2008 will mark the third annual JWCW Casino Night. Each year the club has chosen one specific local charity and made a sizable donation to that organization. The evening is a cocktail attire event with professional Las Vegas style gaming and including food, bar, live music and silent auction. In addition we have experimented with a variety of fun activities including a Purse Auction and a Stock the Bar Raffle. JWCW expects to hold this event every fall. We welcome sponsorship support for Casino Night.
Reverse Raffle
In February of 2008, JWCW held its inaugural Reverse Raffle event. It is, literally, the opposite of a traditional raffle with the goal being to have the last ticket drawn. Tickets are drawn from a barrel one at a time in regular intervals throughout the evening. The Reverse Raffle is a slightly more casual event. We welcome sponsorship support for Reverse Raffle. Please check back soon for further details.
Art on the Square
Art on the Square is in its 46th year and is the most established and financially successful JWCW event. Much like Occasion for the Arts, Art on the Square utilizes Duke of Gloucester and Boundary Streets to showcase artists and to allow the public to walk among booths, viewing and/or purchasing art. The event allows us to donate significant dollars to students pursuing an arts education (visual and performing). Proceeds, through our annual Donations Forum, can also be directed to local non-profit organizations specializing in arts-related projects or whose mission is directly linked to the arts community.
