Early Spring in Williamsburg, R.E. DePaul, 2008
For over 45 years, the Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg has organized its annual spring art show to benefit numerous local charities through our Arts Donations Forum as well as a Fine Arts Scholarship. The show, held in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg in Merchant's Square, attracts almost 250 applicants each year! Only 160 or so artists and craftsmen are selected to exhibit at the show.
Each year, local Williamsburg artist, Richard DePaul, generously donates an original watercolor painting to the club for Art on the Square. Prints are made of the painting and are sold during the show. The painting will be released in February 2009 and will be raffled off with monies from the sale of tickets and posters being used for our annual Fine Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to local high school seniors who plan to pursue further studies in the arts.
